Paperwork: Orlando: Ronnie’s Restaurant!

03 February 2009 Categories: blog

Ronnies was a legend in Orlando. It was the Wolfie’s of Central Florida. From the bowl of pickles on the table to the one, and only one slab of butter, it was where all of the politicians and those that want to be seen went. As time goes on we’ll revisit Ronnie’s and unfold more of the story. Below is the Ronnie’s mask and menu that children received.

That is a real treasure! I’ll take a Junior Hot Turkey Sandwich and do my best to clean my plate!

The prices are just right … unfortunately, with inflation and other cost increases, you could probably add a zero on the end of all the prices.

thanks for keeping the memories going…. Larry (the owner) was my grand father and my Mom (known as the bit** in black) ran the restaurant at night.
i started working there when i was 7 and life hasn’t been the same since we closed 14 years ago now.

thanks for all those that keep this page going….

Hi Jacob, I know your mother too. We went to Sunday School together and I also worked for your grandfather. I still have my name tags and dessert menus. I just can’t seem to get rid of them. Tell Stacy Hi

We used to eat at Ronnie’s every Sunday night after church at Faith Baptist church. My husband was the Youth Pastor there and our 1st child, Lori, now 46 teethed on those delicious pickles. I especially loved the pickled beets. Wish we could find a restaurant like that in Colorado or anywhere for that matter.

PLEASE, Does anyone know the recipe for the Boston Cream Pie that my hubby used to eat at Ronnie’s when he was a little boy. I am so tired of hearing him whine about how great it was and how he wishes I could re-create it.

I ate my last bowl of soup there, the evening of the 13th., not knowing it would be the last. I was there late in the evening and left with a bag of rolls to take home, so they wouldn’t go to waste. The waitress just brought them to me. I hope MILLIONS of dollars go to Larry and his wife, they worked hard. I am now 63 and missing Ronnie’s daily. I am 20lbs. overweight thanks to far to much ice cream, butter and rolls. I was in Ronnie’s every Sat. morning for breakfast. It started when I was about 21 and newly married and ended the day
Ronnie’s closed. My children and oldest grandchild learned their manners there. The biggest treat of course, was to give the “bill” to the child and watch them pay in cash the full amount of the bill. Change was clinched in that hot little hand. My daughters are now 39 and 36 granddaughter 17–we really miss everything that made Ronnie’s Ronnie’s. The pastry shop after breakfast was my undoing-warm pumpernickel bread had better be in that pastry bag, coming home. Mr. and Mrs. Lockhart and family you are missed. Yes, I did make it to the auction and bought the blueprints to one of the additions done a million years ago, and got Larry to sign it. I still have a part of Ronnie’s in my own home. Thank you for the wonderful food, and memories.
