Here’s a flyer from 1956 for the Neptune Drive-In, Daytona Beach. The drive-in location is still there now now used by a church, Daytona Beach Drive-in Church.
There’s another Florida connection in the ad and that’s on the 2nd side below. ‘The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit’ was written by Sloan Wilson who lived by boat in various parts of Florida, including the St. Johns River. Sloan wrote a few articles for the Winter Park Observer, a weekly newspaper in Winter Park, Florida.

This is the office which originally built for the film ‘Rosewood’.
Gopher tortoise homes are all over the property.
Schools oftern come to the property and help with many chorse. Here is a marker of an elementary school that helped build and maintain the scrub area.
Here we are in Lakeland at 3800 US Hwy 98 North. If this looks familiar, this location was featured in the film ‘Edward Scissorhands’.
The Plaza is anchored by a Publix as it has been for more than 40 years.
TheĀ feature above was common in plazas like this at one time. This is one of the last active ones in Florida. Most are filled in and turned into store space.
Here Swampy visits the Deerfield Beach train station built just as the Florida land boom was about to make it’s bust in 1926. Originally part of the Flagler plan it now sees cargo, AmTrak and the commuter Tri-Rail system go by.
If you saw the film, ‘In Her Shoes’, this image might look familiar. It is taken from the same spot that a scene with Cameron Diaz was shot. In the film she has made her way from Pennsylvania to Deerfield Beach and she is seen exiting a train at with the Deerfield Beach station in full view.
