Sandra and Rob collaborated on a feature story on a favorite Genuine Florida topic, Retro Road Trippin’ in the Florida Panhandle, that ran in Interval World in their Summer 2008 issue (and subsequently in their Latin American edition as well.) Sandra wrote the story and provided photography, while Rob created colorful retro maps to orient travelers to the five road trips radiating from Panama City Beach.
Search beyond the interstates, the strip malls and shopping centers, the theme parks and condo clusters, and you’ll find a Florida that hasn’t changed in generations. Live oaks ruffle in the breeze above a herd of shaggy cattle, and sparkling water burbles out of a crack in a limestone cliff, spitting out sharks’ teeth and rainbows.
