Researching and writing 15 books on Florida, Sandra Friend has learned about every nook and cranny in Florida. Her husband Rob Smith, Jr. is an Orlando native with a keen sense of Florida history, politics, film, and literature.  From May 2002 to May 2008, Sandra served as the editor of the Florida Trail Footprint. What is now a full-color magazine started in 1978 as a newsprint newsletter, and has undergone several changes of editorial staff. Sandra was the first to add a splash of color to the publication, and over a six year period, gradually transformed this membership publication into an informative full-color magazine showcasing the efforts of the Florida Trail Association and its volunteers and related outdoor and nature features.
