Researching and writing 15 books on Florida, Sandra Friend has learned about every nook and cranny in Florida. Her husband Rob Smith, Jr. is an Orlando native with a keen sense of Florida history, politics, film, and literature. Our mission is to preserve Florida's own sense of place and pride in our past.

Search beyond the interstates, the strip malls and shopping centers, the theme parks and condo clusters, and you'll find a Florida that hasn't changed in generations. Live oaks ruffle in the breeze above a herd of shaggy cattle, and sparkling water burbles out of a crack in a limestone cliff, spitting out sharks' teeth and rainbows. This is the Florida we know, and we know it well.
